Our Story

Weaving Legacies of Banaras

In the ancient lanes of Varanasi (Kashi), where the holy Ganges flows, a legacy of handloom weaving has flourished for over a millennium. The sound of looms clicking, the vibrant shades of dyed mulberry silk, and the shimmer of metallic zari threads form the heartbeat of this spiritual capital. **Kashiyanaa** was founded to bring these authentic artisan creations directly from the traditional pit-looms of Kashi to your doorstep.

The Artisan Mandate

Today, fast fashion and power-looms threaten the livelihood of Kashi's weaver community. Every saree bought from Kashiyanaa supports the artisan guilds directly, keeping the ancient *Kadwa* and *Phekwa* weaving techniques alive. We ensure fair wages and provide a global stage for their majestic creations.

Each saree we curate is a piece of wearable art, taking anywhere from 15 days to 3 months of meticulous manual labour by multiple master weavers. The patterns—from royal *Ashrafi* motifs to intricate floral *Jal* patterns—represent courtly designs that once adorned Indian royalty. We accompany each of our signature pieces with a silk authenticity tag, verifying the premium quality and handloom source of your drape.
